After guiding 138 first-cycle degree students through the Visual Analytics course at Kristiania University of Applied Sciences this semester, it’s immensely gratifying to review their final exams and witness the depth of their learning over 12 intensive weeks.
Our focus encompassed the principles and techniques of data visualization—chart selection, storytelling with data, and the strategic use of color and composition. Students engaged with real-world datasets and business cases, grounding theoretical knowledge in practical contexts. Collaborative group work further honed their skills in ex
tracting meaningful insights and presenting them effectively.
The curriculum was enriched by seminal works like Cole Nussbaumer Knaflic‘s “Storytelling with Data” and Andy Kirk‘s “Data Visualisation: A Handbook for Data Driven Design”.
On a personal note, it’s a profound honor to be cited alongside these industry luminaries in several student submissions.
