Join Us at TC25 for a Data + Maps Community Learning Session!

In just a few weeks, I’ll be heading over to San Diego for TC25 – the Tableau Conference of the year, and I couldn’t be more excited! One of the many things I love about this event is the energy that comes from being surrounded by thousands of fellow data people, all gathering to learn, share, and grow.

This year, I’m especially thrilled to be co-hosting a Community Learning session focused on Data + Maps, alongside Dennis Kao and Ross Paulson – two fellow spatial data enthusiasts who, like me, can’t get enough of geo data, maps, and all things spatial in Tableau.

If you’re attending #TC25 and happen to geek out over cartography, spatial joins, and maps, or maybe just enjoy a good conversation about the quirks of longitude and latitude — this is your session!

📍 What’s Happening?

Event: TC25 Community Learning: Data + Maps
Date: Tuesday, April 15th
Time: 4:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Location: Community Learning Zone in the Data Village
Open to: EVERYONE!

We’ll be hanging out in the Community Learning Zone to talk all things maps – from how we use spatial analytics in our own work to tips and tricks in Tableau, and of course, to hear what others in the community are exploring too. Whether you’re a GIS guru or just curious about how to add a map to your dashboard, you’re more than welcome.

🗺️ Why Maps?

Maps are more than just nice visuals – they’re powerful storytelling tools. Whether it’s uncovering patterns in population health, optimizing logistics routes, or visualizing customer distributions, maps help us bring our data to life in ways that spreadsheets just can’t. The beauty of Tableau is that it makes spatial analysis accessible to everyone, even without deep GIS training.

Both Dennis and I co-lead the Data + Maps Tableau User Group, a space where we regularly connect with folks around the world who share this passion. This session at TC25 is a chance to bring that global enthusiasm into the real world — and meet face to face with fellow members of the #DataFam who live and breathe this stuff.

🍻 Come for the Maps, Stay for the Community

Let’s be honest — half the joy of TC is the networking, the meetups, and the random connections that spark new ideas. This session isn’t just about spatial data. It’s also a perfect excuse to stop by, say hi, and chat.

Even if you’re not a huge fan of maps (what?!), but have always wondered what it’s like to meet a Norwegian in the wild — well, this is your moment! 😂

Expect informal conversations, map nerd energy, and yes, we’ll see what we can do about that drink too. 🍻

💬 Bring Your Questions (and Your Curiosity)

We’d love to hear what you’re working on — maybe you’ve been exploring map layers, your own Mapbox maps, creating custom territories, or wondering about spatial joins across different data sources. Or maybe you’re just curious where to get started with map building in Tableau. All experience levels are welcome.

And if you’re already a seasoned mapping pro? Come share your wisdom with the group — we’re all about learning together.

🚀 See You in San Diego!

Whether you’re there for the keynotes, Iron Viz, devs on stage, or just the hallway chats — TC25 is the place to be. If you’re into maps, I really hope you’ll stop by our session. It’s always inspiring to meet people who love what they do and want to keep learning together.

Come for the maps. Stay for the laughs. Leave with new ideas (and maybe a few new friends).

See you soon!
